FIA-GT Victory to Vitaphone and Prospeed in Adria 16/05/2009

The nr 1 Vitaphone Racing Team Maserati MC 12 claimed a fine win in Adria today, Bertolini and Bartels racing through the sunset to cross the line 10 seconds ahead of the PK Carsport Corvette C6R of Kumpen and Hezemans. The second Maserati, of Müller and Ramos, finished third, but could have claimed the win without a stop-go penalty. The Luc Alphand AVentures and SRT Corvettes came in fourth and fifth, with Full Speed Racing taking its first points in sixth. The K plus K Saleen had a difficult day, Wendlinger and Sharp going out at the start with a broken driveshaft. Bertolini and Bartels have taken an early lead in the points.
In GT2, Prospeed Competition repeated their Silverstone result, following disappointing qualifying with a fine win for Westbrook and Collard, giving them a good points lead. They were followed by both AF Corse Ferrari 430 GT2 cars, Vilander and Bruni taking their first points of the season, while Barba Lopez and Cadei took a fine first FIA GT podium. The second Prospeed Porsche was fourth, with the Brixia Porsche of Ragginger and Lucchini fifth, after leading for the whole of Ragginger’s first stint.

FIA-GT Silverstone 2009

Thomas Biagi race report
Racing series FIA-GT
Date 2009-05-03
One point worth a victory

Silverstone (UK), May 3rd 2009 – “This point is worth a victory”. This is Thomas Biagi first remark while he was stepping down smiling from his FORD GT40 at the end of the first lap of this FIA GT Championship. Happy for his eight place during the race and for hitting the first step of the podium of the so called “future car” vehicles, already compliant with next 2010 Regulation.

“I’m very much satisfied of the result got today, considering that our Ford GT40 is penalized by next regulation compliance compared to current GT1 cars and I’m also satisfied because this is the very first time I drive it in Silverstone!

I’m very pleased of the congratulations I got from Matech Concept Racing Team for the job done during this weekend. Our team has strong capabilities that need to be expressed. I will try to use all my experience in order to strenghten the reason why the Team wanted me.

Sincerely, I was not expecting to step on the podium and the fact of arriving before official Nissan makes us proud. At the moment we are well balanced in slow bends and it makes me optimistic for a further short step forward for Adria, a racetrack I feel confortable with. Don’t miss the next date on May 16th for the second round of FIA GT…”.
